Labor Day Weekend Drive

The last two years Randy and I have gone on our quest for fresh peaches during the Labor Day Weekend. This drive takes us through the Northern Cascade Range and then over to Central Washington, through the orchards and then looping back through the tourist trap towns that remind me of Sisters, Oregon. This year we stopped at a ranger station at the top of the Cascades and had a picnic lunch. No sooner had we sat down and unzipped our cooler, than the little grey birds showed up. Randy believes they are called gray jays. One jumped into the cooler. Others were so tame they would eat out of our hands.

Hiking in October

Randy and I decided to take a hike in the Baker Wilderness last Sunday. It was a short hike, but we realized that we had not been doing much cardio lately. The view at the top was of the mountains that surrounded us. With the wind storms we have been having, it was a good thing we got out and hiked while the blue sky was peeping through the sky.
