For Julie's birthday, Sabrina and Julie took a road trip to Wildlife Safari. This animal park is what we call a reverse zoo... the animals roam free or pretty much free and the people are in cars (or confined). Coming through the entrance we descended into the Africa part of the park. In the last few years, the park has increased its zebra population. Zebras are identified by their stripe patterns. If I recall correctly these are Damara Zebras...but I could be wrong.
This rhea tried to stop cars in order to peck at metal. He kind of walked around on the edge of the Americas and Africa in the park.
George, the one tusk elephant, is the only elephant left that Julie worked with when she worked in the elephant department. He broke his tusk many years ago and had to have the rest of it surgically removed. His only tusk has been shortened for some reason. When we said his name out the window he appeared to know we were talking to him.
This ambassador cheetah stays in the village area. We thought it was McCumba. She was a very friendly cheetah.
The America exhibit had many bison roaming around. To have them walk up to the truck was a great experience and example of comparison. I think the bison would win that category!
Up on the hillside were two sleeping rhinos: Jack and Terran. We were happy to see them and have them up away from the road. The rhinos don't see well and sometimes hit cars thinking they are challenged.
One of our all time favorites was the giraffe. Near the barn, this fellow ( I think Kele) was raiding pieces of hay out of the back of the feed truck.

This made me think of party favors. Actually it is Kele's tongue! These tongues are skillfully used to take leaves and twigs out of trees (or feed trucks!)
Sabrina had a blast walking around the village and interacting with the petting zoo and photo places. She makes a great lion.
