Bonding with Washington's horse

Just a quick note to say we loved Williamsburg. Alongwith hearing Patrick Henry speak for 40 minutes, we saw General George Washington and got to pet his horse!
Patrick Henry's talk was in the gardens behind the
Governor's Mansion. This mansion had swords lining the entry hall which actually were used a couple of times by the Governor. The dance hall had the elite come for balls, including George Washington who was rumored to have danced the Minuet. This dance was of such impo
rtance at the time that an error in the dance could cost a
man status in society, both politically and socially. Needless to say, young Washington danced well an
d earned the favor of a young lady named Martha.

Today we drove up to DC and stopped at Arlington. It is one thing to see all the
white headstones but it is quite emotional when the shots are fired in the air and Taps is played as one more soldier is buried. Not a
dry eye around us when we heard the shots. The soldiers marched in a formation showing they had lost one of their own.
