Day 3-The Alamo (San Antonio) to Carlsbad, New Mexico

We arrived in San Antonio the night of day 2.   Being that it was around 8:30, we were hungry and tired.   After checking in out hotel, we walked down to the river walk and had a yummy dinner.   Along the way, these "Cinderella" carriages were taxiing people to their destinations.   Sabrina loved feeding the duck family that swam up to our table and it was the highlight of her time in San Antonio.

The gardens at the Alamo

Huge cacti with blooms!

The back area where Davy Crockett had been stationed.

The Alamo lit up at night.

In the gift shop, Sabrina tried on a hat.

The Alamo originally was a mission and the architecture shows that style of old stone churches.  Hard to imagine the battle that happened here between Santa Ana and the Texans (with help from Ireland, Carolinas, Tennessee, and all over US).   Names like: Bowie, Crockett, Travis found their fate here in the battle.  Only women and children were allowed to live.

Security guards.

The fish pond was a huge attraction for Sabrina.

Coy!
