The storm before "the storm"

National weather stations as well as the local weather stations are predicting a huge polar air front colliding with a warm air system from the South to make a nice icy, sleety, snowy mess for the next twenty four hours.

In preparation, yesterday while the temperature was in the 70s, Sabrina rode her trike around the little back pond behind our apartment.   All was going splendidly until she looked back and drove a couple of her tires off the sidewalk into the grass.   This particular part of grass dropped at a steep level to the pond.   Terrified of her rapid decline, Sabrina put her feet down and could not stop.   I ran as best I could to catch her but she was ahead of me too far for me to make up the ground in time.   She turned sideways right as she hit the edge of the pond and then crashed on the edge where the water meets the mud.   Yuck!   Quickly I grabbed her and hoisted her up the bank, thinking a quick rescue was essential as who knows what critters live in the pond now and we had just passed a sign warning of dangerous snakes and wildlife.   Thankfully the pond was soft mud.   She is fine.   Her trike does need to go through the car wash!
