Visiting Grandma Joyce Part 1

Shortly after Christmas we as a family flew to Seattle to see Grandma Joyce.   We thought she looked great!   A week prior to our visit there had been a scare involving medications that had a bad reaction and Joyce had been hospitalized.   She is now back at her home and we saw that she had summoned energy for our visit.   Sabrina took some of her school books and read to Grandma Joyce.   True the books are a little basic, but Sabrina is just learning to read.

Monday we had a family day out and took Joyce to fix her glasses which were bent.   The big instruction to keep them straight is to always use two hand taking them on and off to keep them from bending.   After the optometrist's office, we went for tomato bisque soup and a trip to the yogurt store.

Sabrina was a great nurse.   Here she is helping Grandma apply moisturizer.

Using an I-pad for the first time is difficult for everybody.  Using her i-pad, we showed Grandma Joyce the blog with all the photos.   Her speech therapist came while we were visiting and put some of icons for her blog and Skype on the computer screen so Joyce could easily find them.   We also were able to set up Skype so that we can hopefully have more time connecting with Grandma Joyce.

Nurse Sabrina filled Grandma Joyce's water bottle.

On the bed was a beautiful quilt made by the QCH ladies.  Each white strip had a place with a note of encouragement and love!   We all enjoyed reading these wonderful words.
